Description
Although it may be a common occurrence in the mountains of Western North Carolina, seeing and photographing an actual working moonshine still is not. Located deep in the woods this still may or may not be producing moonshine (that's my legal disclaimer). Part of the final product of this run is visible in the Mason Jar which in this photograph is sitting on worm box. Part of the copper worm is visible in the water, which is flowing from the wooden flum on the right. In the near background, but barely visible is the top of the thump keg, followed by the cap arm leading up to the cap on top of the still. Smoke from the natural stone and clay furnace is visible in front of the barrells in the background.
A color version of First Run Of Moonshine is also available.
Because images of working stills are so difficult to obtain, these photographs will be available with different looks (color, black and white, sepia...) in order to accommodated more people.
