Description
I live in a semi remote section of Cherokee County, in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Living where I do has some disadvantages such as taking 20 minutes to drive to the nearest store, no cell service at home and no high speed internet. Although living where I do comes with some minor inconveniences, the beauty of the North Carolina Mountains far outweigh and inconveniences.
This color photograph shows a small section of Beaverdam Road. Beaverdam Road starts out as Hanging Dog Road and turns into Beaverdam Road. After reaching Davis Creek Road (which travels into Tennessee at Bald River Falls), the houses begin to disapear along Beaver Dam Road as it travels through a section of Nantahala National Forest as it "climbs the mountain". Climbing the mountain as we refer to it is our way of letting someone talking on the phone to us that we will be loosing cell service soon. Onece the top of the mountain is reached and we "start down the mountain" and cell phones stop working.
Beaverdam Road is also refered to as Beaver Dam Road. No one seems to agree on the correct name. Both spellings can be found on maps. I just call it the road home.
