This color photograph was taken just before sunset and just after a rain. The clouds have broken up in most of the sky, but the clouds have cast shadows over the landscape creating a patch work of light and shadow. In the foreground of this photo is Murphy, North Carolina's iconic First United Methodist Church, which sits at the edge of downtown where the road curves. This curve gives the impression that the road through downtown dead ends at the church. On the right side of this photo, in the distance there is a patch of light falling on the Free Methodist Church.
