The summer sun moves the morning gang out to the bench at Clay's Corner. Welcomed in the chairs around the wood stove during the winter, early mornings in the mountains of Western North Carolina are normally cool and plesant. Located in Brasstown, North Carolina, Clay's Corner is home to the New Year's Eve Possum Drop, where a live opossum is lowered down at midnight. This annual "hillbilly eventoffers bluegrass music and a "Miss Possom Queen" contest wehre local men dressed as women compete fot the title.
