Description
This color photograph shows a grave site within Saint Louis Cemetery Number 1 in which the plaster has fallen from the brick grave. Two arches made of brick are visible possibly indicating two chambers, one on top of the other. Mortar has been spread over some of the bricks under the upper arch which may cover an opening in the tomb. Weeds and ferns grow from between the bricks as well as on top of the crypt. The red bricks with green ferns creates a wonderful color combination when combined with the blue sky with white clouds.
A black and white version of Saint Louis Cemetery Number 1 Brick Grave is also available. Several photographs of this historic New Orleans cemetery are also available.
