Description
Color photograph of the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department building at 323 East Oglethorpe Avenue in the historic section of Savannah, Georgia. The oldest continually active police headquarters in the nation, this building is known as "The Barracks".
Opening it's doors in 1870, The Barracks included stables. Becoming modernized in 1921 with the addition of 11 automobiles, the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department building still maintains two old police cars outside the building.
