The street lamps and lanterns in the French Quarter of New Orleans are beautiful to look at, and wonderful to have at night. There is a magical time twice a day, early morning and late evening when the lamps are turned on as darkness falls, yet there is still enough daylight to reveal the shadow of the lamp itself. This black and white photograph shows the gas lamp lit and the dramatic shadow of the lamp itself.
