This color photograph of a small section of the Nantahala River in the mountains of Western North Carolina shows one of the shadowy sections along the river. A mountain river is truly a pleasure to look at. From a distance you may only see the rushing white water of the river flowing by, but if you stop and really look at each section of river you will find a wonderful assortment of different areas, each with their own characteristic.
In some areas the water will be extra fast and foamy, while in other areas, like this on, the water will slow down offering a clear view of the rocks below. This peaceful scene is just inches away from the fast moving whitewater of the Nantahala River.
